Adobe has just announced a release date for the CS4 platform:

I've been waiting for this update.

What are the new features worth buying it for?
I have Design Premium (CS3) and it's really annoying that Flash doesn't run on a 64-bit platform...I've been forced to have 2 browsers, one is 32-bit so I can view Flash. hope they've updated that!

From what I've experienced of software cycles, decent features tend to come with every other release.

When companies are being vaguely honest, they call an incomplete release a ".5" upgrade, as in Photoshop 5.5, which did not honestly add a great deal to Photoshop 5 aside from a few features that were intended for web development (ImageReady 1.0)

They learned that this did not work very often, so the paradigm is now that they will put out a full release (labeled as V1 to V2, v2 to V3, etc....you get the idea) with minor bug fixes, but no major developments, which of course would have previously been titled as a ".5" upgrade.

In my own case, Illustrator CS3 offers only minor cosmetic improvements over CS2. (Improved point selection and interface tweaks do NOT an upgrade make) My hope is that CS4 offers significant improvements in functionality.

That said, the announcement is scheduled for the end of the month. Adobe up to this point has allowed folks to download 30-day demos to test their products, so I am hoping that this tradition continues, and we can see what CS4 has in store.
